My eyes
hurt, my head, I feel like hell, short wind and passages seem to be swelled..soar throat. I think I've been having a reaction to working with Oak. I've handled a lot of different wood in the last few years but only recently with oak. I wear breathing protection but not gloves - sure not isolated from contact with the oak. Started a week ago when I first started working with it...thought I may be just getting a cold but now I think it's a reaction. Almost done working with it so that's a good thing. Glad it's not used for guitars lol. Never had a reaction to wood that I recall...thought I'd mention that it's a possibility if ya didn't know.

This is why some of us choose to seal ourselves inside our bunkers. Well, there's also our extreme laziness... Sorry to hear about your allergies. So much for the Poison Oak guitar...

Thanks..you guys are nice folks..it's not that bad. Feels like a cold, kinda. Poison oak guitar! LOL Man I'm just glad I'm not itching. I can handle many things but itching...makes me nuts. When I started working with wood I read many months before I started and did find plenty of warnings to be alert. People can have reactions and should be alert when handling woods and it seemed that most warnings were directed at "exotic" species... they all seem "exotic" to me! Well I won't be building oak furniture. Beagle I'm with you on that long weekend....I'm going to spend my 4 finishing up with this oak project and be done with oak....and just when I was thinking it may make a nice neck...

oak has this terrible smell when you cut it, sand it. so does pine. mahogany too. it's that fine dust that can kill you. especially if its spaulted (rotten) you can die from this. you may very well be allergic to it. or build up an allergy to it over the years.

One of the best musicians I ever worked with has been a cabinet maker for 30 years I know of. He switched from guitar to bass....killer bassist. High end cabinet work...for those that can afford it. Would really enjoy seeing your work/shop or whatever you'd care to share. OH...geeze...hope you get to over/better.

Uh oh. There's going to be an entire band making hits soon. Oh boy...I just updated post #10....out of all the things I could have said... he is a fantastic bassist. I'm going home. There are just to many holes around here to fall in...and they seem very much like that big one I mentioned not long ago.

Thank you Star. I do appreciate the well wishes but I posted really for those that may not know that wood could effect them. Guess I've been lucky the last few years.
