Inserting audio clip from media browser onto a track

Small issue I'm having:

When I drag an audio clip from the media browser onto a track, it places it on the beginning of the track, no matter where I dragged this. I was sure that I had fixed this issue once before, but I can't find out how I did it. Any suggestions? It's making workflow difficult.

That may happen for creating a new track, but I just dropped a clip on bar 9 from the browser to an existing audio track.

is it a clip you've exported yourself?

if it is, did you export it as a broadcast wave?

no matter if you exported it yourself, this could be the
reason why it's placed at the begining, since broadcast
wave saves a timestamp with the file

what you can try is to export this clip (maybe to the desktop or something,
just to make sure you don't overwrite the original)
and also make sure you don't choose "broadcast wave" as fileformat.

they try to import this and see if it still acts this way. ..if it does, something's very strange

Aha! Thank you Loptec, that was exactly it. I was importing purchased sound effects that had the timestamp data encoded with them. I went to Edit > Preferences > File > Audio Data and deselected "Always Import Broadcast Waves at their Timestamp". Worked perfectly.
