BFD ECO JEX kit NO BARGAIN at $10!

I bought BFD ECO a while ago when it was on sale and like it fine. A few days ago I bought the JEX expansion kit on special for $10. It turned out to be no bargain. The install instructions that came with it were for BFD, not BFD ECO. Following the instructions to the letter, I installed the first of 3 packages, and the install screwed the directory on my samples hard drive. No fun there. I am now at the very beginning of a Windows status check on the hard drive; based on progress after the first hour, I expect this to take many, many hours. There are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of discrete files on that drive, and Windows wants to check them all. When I checked the BFD forum, I discovered that another buyer suffered difficulties on install, to which an FXPansion techie helpfully replied that there is really a different procedure for install. I suppose it's asking too much to expect that a vendor will include the correct install instructions with the product, or that following the vendor's instructions will not destroy one's equipment. However, I can definitely say that this $10 purchase was no bargain at all, and it will be a long, long time before I consider another offer from FxPansion.

What do you think of it, Bapu? Give us your honest opinion about your ten dollars worth of kit.... The last ten dollars I spent was a disappointing adventure in folly.

Have not had a chance to check it out yet. I know I'll use one of those kits soon though.

    £8 when I bought it.
Anyway, mine installed seamlessly. Looks like you've just had some bad luck, lightninrick.

Having played around with Jex a bit... I'm glad it was on offer ;-)

JEX installed perfectly without a single hitch.

Sounds like lightninrick has something else going on with his system somewhere

    Got upon a city bus!
That's exactly why my names Nadine! My father loved the song so much, & respected Berry's lyrics in general. Although dad spent many frustrating years demanding everyone to stop using the french pronunciation.

Oh, & I never thought you were a perv, yorolpal. Heh heh, no... no I didn't.

FWIW - the install wasn't so straight up for me either.

I think my problem was I got moving to fast and missed the prompt to add the data path in ECO. Most instruments I've loaded remember the assigned data paths during installation.  Probably not the same issue you had, but after I manually entered it, it worked fine.

The samples sound great, but I haven't been able to find a good 'kit-fit' for them yet...
