SONAR X1 Producer for only $99 till May 31st - to buy or not to buy
Here we go again, should I pull the trigger? I'm running X1d Studio, so is the $99 really worth it?

I bought Sonar HS7 for $49, then Sonar Studio X1 for $79, now Sonar Producer for $99? Grand total if I were to buy Producer $227

I bought Producer several versions ago and I don't want to add up what I've spent upgrading but I could have bought a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 if I hadn't. Producer is worth it in your case - if you need what's in Producer, of course. Studio to Producer is a welcome leap. But it won't end there.....

Worth it. Producer has most of the Cake jewels, tho some are on older versions. But you get DimPro, Perfect Space, the LP series, the PC. Again, I imagine PC Expanded will come w/ the next version of SONAR so I wouldn't pay for that unless they throw in some modules w/ it. @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

AT - again thanks for your insight. I think I'm going to return that Alesis 2ch compressor I bought. It's not doing what I thought it would do. Maybe the pro channel will take care of my stereo bus needs

I'd personally wait for the announce of the next paid upgrade version this late in the cycle. It's normally preceeded by a 'buy it now and get the next paid update free Sale'. Seems to be the way most companies have gone recently, in effect in this scenario you'd pay the upgrade from Studio to Producer which will then also entitle you to the next 'Producer' release in one go. It is likely the 'Expanded' add-on trifle will be re-incorporated back into the 'Top of the Range' version too so they can sell modules to ALL users. You heard it here first mark my words.... I also put a bet on that annoucement coming Christmas time ready for somewhere around a NAAM 2013 launch.

I would buy it if: You don't have many plug-ins You don't have any soft-synths You don't care that ProChannel sucks unless you spend more on Sonar Expanded You fell that PC plugs are better than anything else you could buy These are important issues. In particular the fact that Pro Channel only gains it's full potential if you buy the expanded update.

Ampfixer and Jonbouy - thanks for the your input. I do own a ton of plugins and soft synths and I really don't want to be tempted to buy more Sonar expansion stuff. Maybe I'll hold off for now and wait for the next upgrade

mtgonzalez Ampfixer and Jonbouy - thanks for the your input. I do own a ton of plugins and soft synths and I really don't want to be tempted to buy more Sonar expansion stuff. Maybe I'll hold off for now and wait for the next upgrade In my opinion (not that it's worth much - LOL), this is a smart decision! I own Producer/Expanded, but I rarely (if ever) use any of the "Producer only" add-ins. What I do miss in X1 Producer is the Sonitus EQ integration - if you use that (and like it) you will not like the Producer upgrade way of handling it, as new projects will be forced to use Pro Channel. (Pro Channel is fine for many, I'm just stating that you won't have the Sonitus EQ integration on new projects)
Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take! codamedia - thanks for the info regarding Sonitus EQ integration. I use that on everything. I think I'm still going to take back my outboard 2ch compressor and get a new assembly for my snare drum. - side note - I picked up a studio shaker and tambourine yesterday and added it to a track I'm working on. Shaker on the verse, tambourine on the chorus. Brought the track to life and made it AMAZINGLY real with the EZ Drummer kit. I'm thinking of recording live high hat parts to replace the EZ Drummer high hat. Someone told me that Peter Gabriel used Stewart Copeland from the Police to play all his high hat parts on one of his album that had programed drums.
