Session Drummer 3 Changing Instruments

How do you change instruments in Session Drummer 3 without screwing up the kit?
When I load a drum kit, for example, I get two snares, a side stick and a handclap on 4 note numbers being 37, 38, 39 and 40 (C#, D, D# and E).  Each of these instruments plays according to the note number.
But I do not like the side stick.  So I right click on the snare drum icon which says "Load Instrument" and it shows all four note numbers.  When I left click Note 37 which is the sidekick, a check mark appears by Note 37.  Then I click on load instrument and select a different side stick.  The new side stick loads, but all four note numbers now play only the side stick.  There is no snare.
How can someone change in instrument they do not like?  There must be a way.  Thanks for any help.

I am running Sonar X1 Producer (X1d) on Windows Vista with a Core i7 processor 8 megs of RAM.

This tripped me up at first too.  The kits on SD3 are created by using SFZ files which support multisample instruments.  When you load an instrument, odds are you are loading a single sample and thus all four will be the same sample.  The only way around this is to load another multi-sample sfz file that has sounds you like better (navigate to the multi-sample folder) or edit the sfz file to change just that sample.  Do a search in this forum on editing sfz files or check out the site for the book "Cakewalk synthesizers: from presets to power user" to get more in-depth info on editing sfz files.

Another workaround is to backup the original side stick file and then rename a file that you like better .  The sfz file would have no way of knowing it is a differnt file and use that instead.

Many thanks.  Sound like I need to read up on .sfz files.  I very much appreciate your taking the time to respond.  It shed a lot of light for me.
Another solution is to find another side stick on another drum instrument and use drum map manager.
