Jamhead

Here's one that got off to a good start and says what needs said and then continues on into the full ramifications of the abyiss. notwithstanding any meaningless drivel along the way. Mostly going nowhere cause I ain't got no sax man.

ridicule and comments welcome

love your work, Tim.  this is not my favorite, tho, sorry.  the mids are muddy and way too heavy in this.  taht bass lacks some clarity, too, it's kind of thick and "syrupy"

don't really care for the synth stuff at the end.

hope you're not upset.  it's just my opinion.  that's not worth a whole lot!

Love the tone of the guitar is very nice. On my system the bass was overpowering. The mix was unbalanced IMHO. Very tasty guitar! So you've got a thumbs up from me Tim!

A perfect song for a lazy day.  On my system, the mix was warm and smooth.  This song had everything but a hook, which doesn't bother me in the least.  Very mellow.

Smooth as a mug of hot chocolate. Kinda noodled along, but wasn't that the point?

That guitar tone is wonderful. What was your setup for that?

Smooth indeed. At first I thought that the bass was chewing up overhead better left to other instruments, but as the song progressed, it was not so bad, but you really need to bring the brass forward a lot more. I enjoyed that.

    Cheers

It's been a long hot day, and I'm listening to this with a cold one..perfect. Sweet playing, lovely chords. You really need a good title for this though Tim, for a noodle, it's a keeper.

Thanks guys. When y'all are talking about the bass this or that, do you mean the frequency of the bass guitar or the kik. The kik is pretty woomfy.

As far as the guit tone goes, it is a Heritage hollow body
    This one

I run it direct (direct box) into Sonar. A little compression (waves Rcomp) and sonitus eq (high pass around 90hz and cut a bunch of highs (high shelf around 4k). A little waves delay and perfect space.

James. the title is sort of well, here's a head and I was too lazy to form it into some sort of structure as I know it needs a saxman to fill up the middle so, then just a spaced out jam. Got any title suggestions??

    Thanks guys.

    Tim,

It rambles but in a good way.

    I like it all.

But based on your description I chose to ignore all production aspects and just considered it a nice segue piece.

    Hey, Tim,

Very smooth, relaxing foray into the world of jazz!  The guitar playing is super tasty and the tone of that hollow body is absolutely amazing.

At first I thought the bass guitar was overwhelming, but as the song went on, it seemed to even out nicely in the mix.  The keys and sax sample were a little bit of icing on the cake.

    Nice work, Tim!

To me, jazz always sounds a bit like several people playing their own tunes all at the same time (yeah, I know, but what can ya do ? I am who I am ) . I like the tones and vibe here , but that synth thing at the end sounds like you accidentally leant on a keyboard by mistake when reaching for the record stop button.

While the mix may not be your usual stellar mix, although this is certainly not bad, but what I really liked was your riffage....  You stayed with the theme enough for continuity and worked off that very nicely.  Great chords!  Bass, very nice.

Mark. Thanks for the heads up on the 70s cop show. Huh. imagine that. The influences of a life. I don't really hear it that way but.. Anyway, I like Brooklyn Nights.
But that means I have to go change all the titles everywhere. Ok, we'll see:)

Thanks Paulo. Ya know, I don't really know what "jazz" is anymore. I think you nailed the synth concept at the end. Sort of reinforces the 'what the heck am I doing' idea. LOL..

Thanks Daryl. Glad you liked. Thanks.

Hey Freddy. Thanks man. Well, you are. Just different ideas. This was quite a bit more sculpted than just jammin around though. You know, get the basic stuff down and fiddle around with it for the next month, mouse in one hand, beer in the other.
