choke cymbal reverb in break?

I am mixing a song and at one point in the middle, everybody stops for 3 beats. Although the SD2 hits a closed high hat, the reverb on the drums can be heard in the break. How can I edit out/choke the reverb?

Larry Williams

A process can not be understood by stopping it. One must flow with it and become one.

you need to use automation to bring cut the reverb for that one part.it will make a nice clean break in there where a pin drop should be able to be heard.

use automation  and click on the W in the reverb plug ins gui.
as soon as the part comes pul the feed back down,or the mix level.

you fair better by zooming in the part and doing it while stopped.

now this is in the sonar x1 forum, did you say session drummer 2?

There was a (Madonna?) song a while back that had an acoustic guitar with heavy cutting out as an effect.

I would bounce down to a track and physically split that bounced-down track at that point, but keep the SD track, muted, for later changes-of-mind.

Edit: Unless you really want an unnatural effect, you may find you want to keep the reverb in.
