MIDI Sync Double & Half Speed Troubles

Hi Gents, Something a little weird about my MIDI transfer from my sequencer. I'm experiencing something in Sonar X1d that I didn't run into in previous versions - [Sonar8.5.3]. I'm recording in real time, MIDI tracks from my Roland MC - 50 Mk II sequencer, through a Roland UM-550 interface into Sonar X1d. I don't think it matters, but even though I slave the Sonar clock to MIDI Sync, for recording, I set the speed of Sonar to match the speed of the MIDI file to 140, as it is for this song. Yesterday, the recording was at half speed. Today it's at twice the speed. Is there something that I need to set or change in Sonar X1d? Would the frames per minute in the clock page be it? From 30 to 24? I have not changed or touched those at all since install time. Thanks, Jim

First, it is not my intention to write one big paragraph. I used to be able to add spaces between my lines by hitting enter, but for some reason I can no longer do that on this forum, nor am I able to preview the posts anymore, so I'll add a few dots for line breaks ie.../ ...Anyway, through trial & error I think I have figured this out, and would like to share it for any others who may run into this. ...For those of us still using the old archaic, but much loved Roland MC-50 sequencers, remember to set your track outputs in Function >11, & in Function >1, to 'Internal' or even 'Remote', vs. 'MIDI' or 'TAPE' when the MC-50 would be the slave. ...If using the Roland MC-50 Mk II sequencer, the settings in Sonar X1d SYNC need to be set to 'MIDI' for external device Sync, vs. 'Audio', 'Internal', or 'SMPTE/MTC'. [Use 'Audio' for Sonar's own time clock, [sound card], and 'Internal' for the computer's clock.] ...On the MC-50, press the MIDI button just to the right of the track buttons, which is just underneath the flashing 'Beat' light. ...Next, press the number '3' which will take you to the MIDI 'XMT Condition' [Transmit] page. ...Press enter to drop down and then press the appropriate numbers to select your choices. ...The one variable that differs for this version of Sonar [X1d] vs. the earlier one I mentioned above, seems to be the 2nd one - 'Clock'. ...The MC-50 has 2 physical outputs, MIDI 1 & MIDI 2. ...If I choose either MIDI Output '1' or '2', the recording works as expected. ...But if I choose both Outs, which I think is the default setting or by entering the number '3', [meaning both outs], then the recording goes at twice the speed, which means that it will playback at half the speed when the Beats Per Minute are the same as originally recorded in the MC-50 sequencer - in this case 140 for this song. ...I'm guessing that by sending the 'clock' to both outs, it somehow splits the signal, and thus cuts the time in half, requiring Sonar to ultimately have to playback at 280 BPM for a 140 BPM song, even though the recording seems to be going twice as fast, by appearance. ...Doesn't necessarily make a whole lot of sense, but that is the solution to the above dilemma, at least in this case. ...Hope this helps. Jim

There is a bug in one/some versions of Firefox that mean it doesn't work properly with this awsome forum.

So, I'm just gonna try this.

    Does it work?

    Let's see...yep! It works!

    Thanks for the links Jerry.

Looks like that earlier version of Fire Fox did the trick alright!

My spacing and previews both work now.

    Cheers!
