Sonar Power Studio Audio Recording (help?)

So I only just got this software/hardware, and I'm having way more trouble getting started than I feel I should. The main thing is this: While I record audio everything sounds dandy, but once I stop recording, it does a bit of processing and then all of the sudden my audio either is hisses or clicks with the occaisional fraction of a second of audio or alternately is a tremolo like thing. Help?

    Lenovo laptop:
    OS: Windows Vista
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53Ghz
    Ram: 2GB
    Sonar 6 Power Studio
I can't find the soundcard specs on the computer, but isn't the input box more or less an external soundcard?
(Sorry that I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I recieved this second hand from my brother)

First as you will see in millions of posts about pops and clicks and issues with audio---You need a proper audio interface to run Sonar or any DAW.----You sort of mention a input box?? is that a USB audio device???What brand and model if so??.. Secondly, If your version of Vista is 32 Bit make sure your audio interface has the correct drivers for that OS. If it is Vista 64 bit then Sonar 6 might be unstable as it was for 32 bit OS.

Cactus: I believe the Sonar Power Studio comes with the audio interface.

    Try these:
Go to Options-Audio-Drivers and make sure the Power Studio is selected as the input and output.

Go to Options-Audio-Advanced and make sure you've selected ASIO mode.
