Can't Unfreeze oh and Now New Softsynths Added to the Project Won't Play on Playback

Now if I add a new soft-synth to this same project I can record it and hear it when recording it, but upon playback I hear nothing!
 
Ok freezing the synth and then unfreezing it has corrected the project, I guess this is another bug.

I am using Micro Tonic (or uTonic) which is a drum synth and I cannot unfreeze one of the instances.  I have clicked the freeze icon in the track view and also tried the freeze icon in the synth rack.  I have also tried right-clicking the freeze button and selecting "unfreeze" and it does nothing.
 
Any help would be appreciated.

    You might check the output of the midi track that feeds the synth track to make sure it is still set to the synth you're working with, AND the Input of the Syth/audio track to make sure it's set to the output of the synth. The frozen light will not be on if the outputs/inputs are pointed elsewhere.

    This is a long shot, but try hitting 'P' (for preferences) then Enter to accept and dismiss the preferences window. I have to do that every time I start up X1. If I don't, I get no sound.

    How do you know you're recording anything?

    • Do you have Midi data in the track when you've finished recording?
    • Can you trigger the synths notes directly from the keyboard in PRV?
    • How are you inserting the synth? Are you configuring it all manually (bad idea)or letting Sonar do it automatically (good idea)?
    • Have you got the synth configured as a simple instrument track or split audio/midi?

    Bristol - There is midi data in the track but I am not near my computer right now to test if I can trigger the notes directly in the PRV.

    I have been allowing Sonar to setup my synths automatically with the exception that I no longer insert my synths as simple instrument tracks in order to avoid the "unable to save, disc is full" error which others have also reported: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2592315&mpage=1#2597293

    I now find with this project that when the midi does work, it is missing notes on playback.  These notes are on the piano roll but do not sound.  Once I freeze the track the notes can be heard.

    I chalk this up to another bug which has been my experience so far with Sonar X1.

    Could it be Midi buffers playing up? I've seen this solution posted before.

    Go into Preferences > Midi > Playback & Recording and up the value of "Prepare using nnn Millisecond Buffers"

    I think the default is 250 - up to to a 1000 and start experimenting.
