In what version of Sonar was the FX series effects? Anyone remember?..

I'm looking for that Taj Mahal reverb patch... it was in one of the Sonar versions in that light purple FX reverb plugin. Anyone recall?

Thanks,

Ludwig

No it was just called DSP-FX Reverb. A light purple coloured GUI. I see the name is still listed in X1 Essential...

There still there in X1, but are not installed by default. They are 32 bit plug-ins so you are snookered if you run a 64 bit version of Sonar - it will be ok with Sonar x86 running in W7x64, though.

Run the X1 setup and select custom install. Uncheck all the other bits already installed then select the DSP-FX plug-ins that you want and complete installation.

The DSP FX Studioverb and the newer Studioverb2 are basically the same. The only differences I see is the GUI and the newer one boasts (??!?) fewer presets.

Both share Taj Mahal, one of my favs,  and a few other presets. They only work in 32 bit Sonar.

According to my notes, the Fx___ plugins have been bundled since SONAR 1. They were developed by Power Technology and had previously been sold separately as an add-on to Pro Audio. I do not have anything about Studioverb specifically, but a SoS review of SONAR 1 appears to show Studioverb.

Here's the Sound on Sound review of SONAR 1 from 2001 for the historically-curious.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

This is really testing my memory, but I think Studioverb originally came from Project 5.  At least the "single rack" version.

OK.. I verified that it's StudioVerb II that was in P5.   I don't recall what StudioVerb 1 was...

Just FYI: FXChorus, my go to, has been crashing my X1 repeatedly. I still works, but sometimes just trying to open it makes the program unresponsive...

That's funny. FX2 Tape Sim and FXReverb were the only "FX"s that would even install 32 bit for me.
Only FX2 Tape Sim on 64 bit.
