How to delete 460 measures on 30 tracks, delete hole, bring last take to beginning?
Hi, This may sound basic, but can't figure out how to do this: have a project on which we did 3 multitrack takes and finally worked overdubs on 3rd take of the song, which start around bar 460 something... Now I just want to keep that 3rd take of the project. Not all tracks start same place on overdubs. How can I just ''delete'' that 460 bars on all tracks, moving that whole project as it is structured to beginning of project ? ( so I can proceed to export to OMF (I know how to do that last part btw). Tks Rob

Delete the measure you do not want, highlight all tracks, lasso all clips and move forward so that the earliest clip is at zero.

I might not understand exactly what you're talking about, but drag the time ruler to select from the beginning to bar 460, then ctrl+click the track number on each track you want to include in the selection. Go to Edit menu, choose Delete and make sure Delete hole is checked. But that may be easier than what you're talking about. If it is, a screenshot would probably help.

Just to add to this you can use ctrl A to select all tracks if thats easier.

If I understand what you want, first I suggest doing a "save as" of the entire project in case you make a mistake and have to start over. Then, as gfeel suggests, lasso all the clips in front of the the tracks you want to save and delete them. You may have to zoom down a time or two to get everything. Then use the "slide" function in process to slide your remaining tracks -460 measures, which should get you to ground zero. Or, if you can find a way to edit the time ruler, then there you go.

What Lynn said... , using the zoom out tool to make the whole project show on the screen is how I do this, I've never had 30 tracks, just 16, but it should work the same. I'd put a marker at about 3 bars before the cut point and fine tune the start time later.

Hey thanks everyone, indeed that was much easier than expected... Lynn: I should have also read your note before - indeed zoom down would have eased the way even more ! :) Rob
