JPG Settings Export function, good idea?

How about making X1 automatically take a snapshop of each plugin or vst or whatever page upon each save, and save each one as a JPG file in a folder. Copy folder or send it to some, and use for backup in case the original X1 file was lost.

Just a thought...what do you think?

You can just hit PrtScn and then paste it into the Paint application and save your own.

A JPG does not store any info of presets, so the settings should be copied visually, which is very limited for following reasons:
The numeric info about slider position etc. often is only shown when you hower the cursor on the slider, so the exact info could not be saved in a JPG. Also, many VSTs have several UI screens, which the JPG-snapshot system could hardly handle either.

Saving the settings as presets with the project name would be more useful, IMO. That way you can restore the settings with one click. The presets don't get destroyed if the project gets corrupt.

You can already do this with a variety of program's.
Win 7 has it built in. Alled the Snipper tool if I remember correctly.

As Kalle has also mentioned a picture doesn't always get precise details due to resolution, number of screens involved and the fact that numerical values values are often hidden when not in focus.

Creat and save presets for all your settings is a good practice to get into and make notes using things like the VstNotes plugin

this would only work on software instruments that's got all parameters visible at all times.

i know this take a few minutes, but on thing you could do instead is to save the presets from the individual synths in a folder, in the project folder.
