You can use the Split tool (looks like scissors in the toolbar) and split the track on each side of the word, making it it's own clip, right-click it, select Edit>Delete.
Or select the track the word is in and drag the cursor across the timeline at the top above where the word is. That section of the clip will become highlighted. Press the Delete key on the computer keyboard.

You should be able to cut out out any size you want by turning off "snapping" or setting it to samples, sounds like you probably have snapping set to whole measures and the timeline set to bars and beats.

Details please, Strryder. It took me to long to find add track on the bottom left of the block, options, tool bar.

I'm not Strryder, but he's talking about the Snap, or Snap-to settings. There should be an icon for it above the track view, looks like a little grid. Clicking the drop-down arrow next to it brings up the Snap-to settings, which is at Measure by default. That means the Now line will snap to the nearest measure when you click on a clip.
Changing it to a different note resolution will allow you to place the Now line at precise intervals, for splitting, pasting, etc.
Clicking the Snap-to grid button will turn off Snap, so you can place the Now line anywhere you want.

Thanks. I started all this with zero, and I know your Mr. 57 not stryder, OK to call you that? Wehn I started I didnt understand a track. I figured a track was a whole song...blah, blah, blah. Thanks for the help.

I guess what Im going to do now is ask things like 2:2, what and why. What can I do with it and why would I want to use it. Just statements and growth. I do have to say that I didnt realize how much work went in to trying to make perfect. I mean, when I record I pick up all my mistakes. Finger slide here, didnt press that string hard enough...dot frigin dot dot

Here's how to insert an image, and more info:

Depending on your browser and it's settings, you may have to set it's zoom level to 100% so the icons appear onscreen. I usually have my zoom set to 150% (old eyes) and have to reset it to 100% to use the tools and smileys.

What do you mean by 2:2?

My usual recommendation is to go through every button and drop down window you have in SONAR, and read in the help files what it's there for. Or the other way round. Why wait for hours to get an answer in the forum when you can find it (most cases) in minutes in the help files?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
