Had you created a project already or just opened SONAR and were working on the default project that opens with the nomal template

the reason I ask is that if you did the former then it would just save to your existing project if you haven's actually saved the project before then no.

that's one of the reasons that by default SONAR opens with the little window asking for a project name and the template on which you want it based. Forcing you to start with a named project gives SONAR something to save to in cases like this.

You could try looking in various folders like
    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR your version\
or the (x86) equivalent if using 32 bit SONAR
    C:\Cakewalk Content
    C:\Cakewalk Projects

Have you done a Windows search on the file name? It usually saves the restore copy as the project name and a date and time stamp appended to it. For example: projectname.cwp.~2012-06-11-15-26-22-291.

You should have autosave turned on if you want more protection.
