Hot tip: Lyrical Distortion Ripper Amped for ten bucks

If you've got full Kontakt, here's a useable, though limited, electric guitar library for ten bucks. It's recorded through a Mesa Boogie, so no amp sim is required. It's only got that one sound, but it's a quite nice sound.

Also check out the Dirt Bass Amped, which is also useful and also ten bucks.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I like Smoke Bass. The Mandolin and Banjo are useful too.

Quite a few, but not all, of the Lyrical Distortion instruments are avaliable in multi format versions which include SFZ which will be useful to anyone looking to add guitar sounds to Dim Pro or the SFZ player bundled with Sonar.

    Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

LP Custom Powerchords looks like something interesting, too.  http://www.lyricaldistortion.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_6&products_id=22&zenid=609989e3e5cadaec5c6231382542d585

And this LDI Select is quite nice ... for ten dollars? http://www.lyricaldistortion.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_6&products_id=12

A while back LD had a big group buy and I ended up with pretty much every library they sell, I think maybe 20 or so in all. Of them, the only ones I've ever actually used in a song are Ripper Amped, '73 Strat and Dirt Bass.

The acoustics just weren't quite as good as others I already had (although the nylons are acceptable). I tried using the mandolin on more than one occasion, but it was too harsh and "plunky"-sounding. I may revisit some of the electrics, as I have a more extensive amp and speaker sims now than I did back then.

These are all worthy of note.

Nevertheless, I'm saving my precious pennies for Greg's next guitar. [The Torch might be another buy, maybe. It sounds like it might upstage most of these]

Thanks for the head's up Bit. I got the Ripper Direct so I still have the flexibility to run it through my amp sims. I may pick the Les Paul power chords too.
