Anyone using X1 with filed recorder as audio interface?

  Hi,

I've found out that some portable field recorders also double up as Audio interface once connected to the computer via usb.

This would be great for using with my laptop when traveling.

I am wondering if anyone has experience using that setup, which device you use and how good the drivers may be to use with X1 / windows 7 X64.

Many thanks,

Cheers,

Vinny

I think you may be able to use it for its microphones, but I bet as an audio interface for synths/listening/latency/ probably not so much.

I know someone using Xoom H4N for that and it's not half bad. Latency is better than some cheap interfaces like lexicon lambda.

I have a Zoom H 4 and have used it on occassion as a sound card for both the stereo mics it has and as a dual input for external mics. Modest success and As it doesn't have anymore than a stereo headphone output it makes it pretty useless as a general sound card replacement

I have used Zoom H2 a couple of times on the road with SONAR 8.5. It's quite usable, but I haven't used it often enough to get the whole picture.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Thanks for replies. Was particularly interested in this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/d...reativeASIN=B006YMB9N0

Sounds like it could be workable as a recording device only, providing XLR, jack inputs, microphone and phantom power, and using asio4all as monitoring / playback

for a solution on the move, it culd be cool as well as having a top notch field recorder / multitrack

    Cheers,
