Vvocal not working - Solved!

In sonar expanded x1d, I have an out of tune note.  I've split the clip around the note.  I right click the new clip & click on "Create Vvocal Clip" and Viola! - nothing happens.

Anyone else have something like this?  Is there some new hidden checkbox for enabling Vvocal?

This is my first time trying to use it since upgrading....

    Try bouncing the clip.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

The V-Vocal option occasionally is grayed out for me and I never know why. One clip works and one doesn't.

What do you mean by bounce the clip?  When I highlight the clip and click "create vvocal clip," it doesn't create a vvocal clip.  All that happens is the popup menu disappears and there's no vvocal clip.  It's not like the computer is having trouble processing the clip, so I should bounce it.  It just isn't creating the clip.

I have a mastering deadline coming up on this track and really don't want to print this one stinking note!  Any ideas for getting vvocal to work would be great.  I'm even willing to try ridiculous workarounds.

I think he is referring to highlighting the clip and choosing "bounce to clip".
It might reboot the clip and allow V-vocal again?

    Bouncing to clips worked!

I don't know why you have to do this now - never had to before...

Original problem - Vvocal won't create a Vvocal clip on a clip that had been split out from a larger clip.  Did some testing and also found the same problem that M_Glenn_M had - Vvocal is greyed out for some clips.

Solution - select desired clip; right click; select Bounce to Clip(s); right click new clip; Vvocal works as expected.  Worked in all cases of Vvocal oddness that I was able to identify.

Seems most strange to me, but so long as it works, it works...  Would like to see this bug addressed.

    Now for the real kicker:

The note is in a unison line between violin and guitar - I generally assume that the violin is out of tune since it's fretless and rather easy to play out of tune...

Turns out - I get into Vvocal and the violin is spot on.  On much closer examination, the guitar has an accidental 2nd note playing 1/2 step below the intended pitch.  Vvocal is useless on this!

Gonna start looking for a clean E in the guitar part somewhere that I can split out, copy, and paste in.  Maybe I can find one that'll work!

Melodyne Studio (the polyphonic one) would fix the guitar thing, but it is expensive unless you will be using it often.  I just use the monophonic Melodyne, but if I were in a stuido that recorded a lot of session players and walk-in bands doing demos, the plyphonic version would be a very wise investment.  I wish there had been such a thing back when I was cutting local badns a demos all day long!  Since I am chiefly a songwriter and arranger, I play almost all the instruments on my tracks now and it is easier to redo an instrumental part than to fix it.

I did fix someone else's guitar part recently by replaying the bad section using RealStrat and Guitar Rig to copy his sound and then splicing in my section to replace his bad part.  It was a lot of work, but his part overall was awesome, he was gone, and I didn't want a hole in the middle of the take.  If this had been in the middle of a solo it would not have worked, but it was a backing line right after his solo, so it fit OK. (I sometimes hire a lead player to put some polish on my stuff.  I play guitar OK and get also do reasonably good virtual parts, but I am no subsitute for an experienced session guy.)

I found a part elsewhere in the song that was similar and was able to copy a couple of notes over the offending section.  It came out seamless
