Why CW customer service sucks? I want to buy SONAR X1 and they can not even answer...
I want to upgrade from 8.5 to X1, so it would be money to them. Read my problem below. It's not so complicated, but all I got a mail on 25.05.2012 which doesn't even answer my simple question. Since then I've answered the mail (on the site and in e-mail, too) and forwarded later a few times, but no answer.

I'm not clicking that. What's the question? Also their email support takes a while. If you can't find an answer here just call the 888 number for general support. It's free and they are quite helpful. You might have to wait on hold for a bit but it's worth it. 1-888-CAKEWALK. Good luck.

Yeah, but it would be very expensive to call that from Hungary. Anyway, now it seems they managed my problem, suddenly now I can see 8.5 in my registered products...

Hi mrbungle, I'm truly sorry that you had to wait so long to get an initial response. I located your latest reply which was sent not even 30 minutes ago. Surely you must understand that for us to be able to help you we need time to be able to receive you reply. Also, just as an FYI, if you reply directly to the email that was sent it goes back to the original representative who assisted you. This speeds up the process rather then opening a new case altogether. She doesn't read these user forums so your response here would not catch her attention. For whatever it is worth, however, it has caught my attention. I'll forward your ticket to the representative you were working with so that we can get you squared away. It looks like the suggestion she made was to have you create a store account so that we could then merge your registrations with the store account itself. This has to happen before the store will allow you to purchase eligible product upgrades, which is why it gives the validation error. Also, please for the sake of protecting people's privacy do not post emails back and forth on the forums. Again, I'm sorry for the delay you had to wait for an initial reply. I'll make sure we get things sorted with your account. Best regards,

I guess I replied too soon! Again, sorry for the delay. Registrations have to be merged with accounts for the upgrade process to work, which seems to be okay now given your response above. If you're still having problems let me know. Best regards,

Ryan, thanks. Now I deleted my mail and answer. My latest reply sent not even 30 minutes ago was just same I sent you a couple of times since 25. May! Of course I replied to the person who sent me that mail, and of course without changing the subject! Anyway now I made the purchase and downloading the files. Will I get X1 PS files later? Because of this: https://www.cakewalk.com/...ss-Upgrade-755x200.jpg

I didn't realize you were Hungary. Is the 888 long distance from there? Anyway, this thread is proof that CW support is pretty darned awesome. Have fun.

Cakewalk support is the best in the business, in my experience. By far! Probably not perfect always though. Still... who's better?
Win7 Pro 64 bit sp1, i7-960 Intel processor, 8 gig RAM, SSD 64gig boot drive, Samsung F3 1TB D drive, nVidia Quadro 600 video card, Gigabyte X58A mobo, LG Blu-ray drive, 500 Gig E, F Drives, dual-monitors: 26" each, 2 X Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 ASIO hardware I/O's, Tascam US-428 control surface, Sonar 8.5.3 and X1 Producer, Avid Media Composer 5.0.4, Vintage 42-input Amek console, much outboard analog audio gear, acoustic world instruments, and noise toys!

Yes, Beepster, it's long distance and e-mail is still free. :) I think I'm lucky that CW support reads this forum. I just waited 3 weeks to buy X1. ;)

Thanks for following up. Bummer you had to wait so long (we're working on a lot of ways to improve that). For those that don't know, once you purchase the upgrade an email gets sent with further instructions on how to obtain the free update. Mrbungle, I checked and it looks like you were already able to do this, so that's awesome! I hope you enjoy! Thanks again for your patience.

Yeah... I could see how a phone call from Hungary would end up being quite costly in that case. I'm glad it worked out for you. This forum is indeed awesome. I've learned an insane amount about my software and digital recording in general in a very short time here. I keep saying it but one of the major deciding factors for me when choosing Sonar was the legendary support and this forum. I have not been let down. Take care and have fun.
