YES,you need to extract the loop, open it in prv/ do your edits/ right click/groove clip looping. in order to get deep into the acidized file managment you need something like propellrheads recycle.

to my knowledge, the only way to do that is to use recylce to convert them into rex files.

You would think someone would have invented some alternative way to create REx files, although i am sure Steinberg maintains some tight legal control over that.

dubdisciple You would think someone would have invented some alternative way to create REx files, although i am sure Steinberg maintains some tight legal control over that. has nothing to do with steinberg.. it's propellerheads tech. as much as so is rewire. making the code to "generate" rx2's would be not in their interest and cost em money. ( no recycle sales) you can extract the rex's etc in say kontakt etc.. BUT then it's in NI's format. I keep saying I need to post a vid of how to use rxp etc... as the beat slicing shown so far (muting) and beatscape isn't on par to the oldschool PROPERLY chopping. Robin needs to "jungle" it up and show Seth / Brandon it isn't all 4 to da floor ;-)

Please post the video sorry...mixed up the companys. I wonderif my old recycle lite software will save rex files. I agree that the tutorials are way too 4 to the floor oriented. Comnsidering that they have several instruments that will map REX files, you would think they would show this off more ways to manipulate slices.

Try Uvi Workstation. Its free and it lets you play acid, rex, apple loops and more. In loop mode or with individual slices mapped to keys(I prefer v1.7). Also if you open a acid file in Sonar it converts it to a groove clip which can be opened in Beatscape or Cyclone which come with Sonar to manipulate slices. (just drag and drop)

Thanks everyone.. I simply cant find Beatscape in my sonarX1d. Is it part of the default install? fresh101 - I did get it to work in Cyclone, but is there a way (as in RXP) to drag a midi file of the loop to a midi track? I cant find that. I would have to recreate the loop on the midi track for every loop. Uvi workstation seems to not be a vst? Or is it?

be careful with Uvi workstation installation. 1) it tries to install i-lock stuff whwther you have i-lock or not 20 the new version may not be compatible with X1

It is a vsti aswell as a stand alone instrument. Make sure its gets intalled into your default vst folder. I prefer the older version over version 2 because it allows you more control over loop edits.
