effect send not adjustable

Have an old project in which I'd like to use another reverb. Deleted the previous reverb and put the new one in the Effect Send 1 track. Now, I cant adjust the amount of reverb in the various audio tracks connected (post)to Efect Send 1. When I use the slider in the effect send box within the track, it just changes the volume but not the amount of reverb. Why is that?

By "Effect Send 1 track" you mean the effect bus with the reverb in it, right? One thing to check is that the new reverb you are using is only sending wet (reverb) to its output, and none of the dry.

Thanks bvideo. Well it seems to work now. How do I check that it's only sending wet? By soloing it?

An effect send is done with an out at a point before or after the fader and is input to an auxiliary buss. An insert would be the FX bin. The buss's FX bin would be where one puts the FX as an insert. That way one can have an FX for more than one track by using a send from them.

Yes, that's the way I use them, in the aux bus, by default named "effect send 1" in Sonar.

It's working; good. To answer your Q?: every reverb has its own idea of how to lay out parameters. Look for 'dry' or 'mix' and adjust accordingly. Some reverbs have wet-only patches created for use in an aux bus, vs. mix patches set up for an FX bin.
