VS-20 Patch Select Buttons Quit Working

I just got my VS-20 a couple of days ago, and it worked great.  Suddenly today, my Patch Select buttons stopped working.  I can still change patches in the software; it's only the two hardware buttons that quit working.  All other hardware buttons work fine.

I've completely uninstalled/reinstalled all Cakewalk/VS-20 software and drivers.  I've tried a Windows System Restore.  Neither of those fixes it.

I've installed on another computer, and the buttons work fine, so I think it's safe to say it's not a hardware fault.  And again, they worked fine on my computer...at first.

This has been driving me insane all day...can anyone offer a suggestion?

Another (interesting?) tidbit:  While I can use the software controls to change patches in the VS Editor, I CANNOT use the software buttons in Guitar Tracks to change patches.  Just like on the hardware, they visibly are depressed, but they don't do anything.  All other software buttons in Guitar Tracks work normally.

A you using it in guitar tracks or in sonar or both, sometimes using in both can mess with settings, though just the patch select buttons seems odd.what i would do is uninstall like you did before only this time go into the regestry and delete everything(vs 20)
now what those are im not sure you might need tech support to answer that.i may suggest though the vs 20 update patch.
this might work..i say might, cant gaurentee anything here.

    Thanks, chuckebaby!

After multiple failed rounds of uninstall/reinstall/reg cleaning/folder cleaning, I found the culprit.

I have a Novation Impulse 25 MIDI controller.  I had been fiddling with that recently, and while I didn't see the relevance, I uninstalled the drivers for it.  Suddenly the patch select buttons on the VS worked.  I reinstalled the Novation drivers, and the buttons continued to work.

So this was officially "One of Those Things" I guess.

Thanks so much for the help!

For the record, the problem came back, and this time uninstalling the Novation drivers did not help.

However--and I'm a poor IT guy for not thinking of it sooner--running in compatibility mode (Win XP SP2) fixed it.
