Metronome

I am quite new to this, so please pardon my basic questions.  I am unable to get the metronome to work.  I have selected Playback, Recording and Use Audio Metronome in the General section of the metronome preferences.  I've also selected my Profire 610 Multi 1/2 as my output.  When I either record or playback, the metronome is not heard.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks for your help.

There is a section in the help topics menu about the metronome. It's pretty thorough.

Jvanbeek - the metronome is great and you can use it as The Cakewalk team has outlined. A technique I've adopted over time is to have a basic 4/4 beat (in midi) tapped out on a keyboard - kick drum, snare, kick drum, snare for a measure - or you can use any other means ( other than a keyboard) to get the beat. Then I copy exactly one measure of that and repeat copy that on the same track for like 100 measures. I use the TTS-1 channel 10 drum sound. Since it's midi I can set the tempo to anything and it plays the right pace. I prefer recording against a drum beat to the experience of recording along with the metronome - even though the metronome works great functionally.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

There is a fader on the console for the metronome. Perhaps you have it muted or turned down.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I've now got the metronome working.
