Order of installation of patches/upgrade for Studio/Producer

I use Producer and have ordered a copy of Studio for my son to take advantage of the free Studio-to-Producer current upgrade offer (great!).  But I know after installing the a,b,c & d patches have to be applied.  Should you do this before or after applying the upgrade - or are they completely separate, so you have to do it twice?  Or do you just install the upgrade to Producer and patch that?  Any help gratefully appreciated!

Love you all!

The correct sequence for Producer is X1 > X1c > Expanded (if applicable) > X1d

I can't see it being different for Studio, it's still X1

Whether or not the upgrade from Studio to Producer is patched, I'm not sure. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Just as Bristol Jonesey has said - with this extra info -

the X1a and X1b patches do not need to be installed as they are all rolled into the X1C update.

Sorry - some more info after re-reading the OP post.

The term Upgrade applies to a pricing structure, whereby you save money because of owning a previous SONAR version.

The upgrade from the Studio version to Producer is a complete Producer installation not a subset.

So it will be a complete fresh install into (by default)
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer (for the 64 bit version) or:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer (for the 32 bit version).

If your SONAR Studio version is using the default installation then it will look like this

C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Studio (for the 64 bit version) or:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Studio (for the 32 bit version).

You'll note the different folder location between 32 or 64 bit versions and also that you could have Studio and Producer versions co-existing.

I'm not clear on what you're doing but if you upgrade your Studio version to Producer,  technically you can't pass on Studio to your son while you use the upgrade to Producer. Just a small point.
The licence belongs to you and is not transferable. Check the EULA. When you upgrade (any software) each new version that you obtain becomes part of the one full original licence you purchased. Not being a party pooper but thems the facts. Maybe I misunderstand what you intend to do so just ignore my comments in that case.

Thanks to all.  I can see Studio and Producer will install separately just like new full bakes of Sonar.

Just to clarify, I've been using Cake since Pro Audio and I'm on X1d exp. now.  I've bought a fresh copy of Studio exactly so my son becomes a free-standing registered user on his own account and doesn't have to share my setup any more.... at my expense, though - kids, huh!!:)

Love you all.  This forum is so great.  Thanks again!

I did the free upgrade. I didn't bother downloading or installing studio.. My upgrade email came in the middle of the download.. I cancelled dl and then dl'd and installed the producer, then C, then D

This upgrade was too awesome... Where is the red wine? Hey it's first class
