Note staff editing problem
While editing soft synths from staff view, when i want to add or move a note the cursor is not pre-locking in the proper position depending on my choice of the note duration (whole note, quarternote etc) but lets me place it wherever i want..That causes some notes to not follow the tempo of the track and jump in a little earlier or later. Previously I dealt with this by enabling or disabling Snap button, now this is not changing anything. Any ideas?

Have you maybe changed the snap settings by accident? Like to 32nd notes instead quarter notes?

That's the thing I'm talking about...I set the Snap to whole, or measure or 1/4 and the cursor still acts as if i set it to 32nd...

I see. Sorry. The staff view is kind of weird. I'm sure you've already tried this but I'd reboot and restart Sonar to see if that fixes it then check some older projects to see if it's going wonky in those as well. I had SV go weird on me when I was first messing with it and restarting Sonar made it work again. Just trying to cover the obvious stuff. If no one here can figure it out I'd ask Sonar support because that is a major problem if you're a heavy SV user. Good luck.

The main change I've made recently is that i installed the patches (a,b,c,d) released for x1. Also i connected a midi keyboard which is working properly(no latency or other problems), but because I'm a guitar player and not so good with the keyboard i mainly use SV to insert or correct inserted notes. I restarted sonar and my computer, but nothing changed, also the problem comes up whith my older projects too...

Sounds like the update broke something or they changed something in the Staff View (I'm a new user so I don't know how older versions worked). I'm out of ideas. Maybe someone here experienced this problem after updating as well who can help. If not get a hold of Cakewalk and see if they can help because it does sound like an issue with the update... intentional or otherwise.

I had this problem. The only fix I found was un-installing Sonar. Somewhere on the forum is a way to do it completely. Then I re-installed it. What a PITA!

I did it and the problem solved, but is there any normal solution for this? I mean, ok now the problem is gone, but how can i be sure that it will not appear again? What about you Guitarpima? Did you experienced it again since your reinstallation of x1? It makes me a little anxious now because i'm working in sonar and have in the back of my mind thoughts like: "Maybe if i change this or that setting, the problem will appear again and have to uninstall and reinstall x1 all over again"

It has not happened since. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though. I spent a lot of time with Caketech and they never figured it out either.

You might find it easier to enter your note data into the PRV rather than the Staff View (which is a bit clunky, to say the least)

in Staff View, you can always RIGHT CLICK the note to open the note properties window. In there, you are able to set the parameters of the note to whatever you want as far as time, duration, and pitch..... I use this method quite often when I play a part on the keys and I hesitate or jump in too early on a note.... the note properties window lets me move it to exactly where it's supposed to be. I would not want to use this to fix a lot of notes because it is a time consuming process but to fix a handful of notes, it is the perfect solution. I rarely (never) use audio snap. And I try to be sure I have the note resolution set properly if I am entering notes manually.

Bristol_Jonesey You might find it easier to enter your note data into the PRV rather than the Staff View (which is a bit clunky, to say the least) It would take 4 days time to enter notes in PRV that would only take an hour or so in SV.

It's the other way round for me - I'm at least 4 times faster entering notes into the PRV than I am in staff view.
