Melodyne Essentials $49
Just in the mail: AudioDeluxe 48 hours special: Melodyne Essentials for $49. (Requires to have an Audiodeluxe account) Should be stable with the latest update to 2.1 I already got Melodyne Editor, but it might be a good oppertunity for those who don't have it, are done with V-Vocal. Sincere apologies to anyone ticked off by me bringing attention to a 'fakers'-tool

Is Melodyne essential a stripped down Melodyne? It looks like a good deal if it isn't. I occasionally use V-vocal and they seem similar to me but I have never used Melodyne.

It's all you'd need for pitch and timing correction (IIRC). It doesn't have the DNA feature which allows one to "disassemble" polyphonic tracks. I'm sure it is more powerful by far than the "UNO" version it replaced and I used that for years to correct pitch and such. I'd suggest checking out all about it at: www.celemony.com But @ $49 bucks...that's a deal.

I don't have or demo'ed Melodyne (yet)...... Besides pitch & timing corrections, does anyone use it as a creative tool and how so? (ex. take a vocal track, copy it, and make harmonies with Melodyne?)

I would imagine that with Essential you don't get the "copy, paste" functionality either. It's still a great way to learn the Melodyne system and will do all you need in pitch and timing correction. Then, you can always upgrade to Assistant or Editor.

This is such a bummer for Reece. He left for vacation this morning and I know he would have jumped on this deal for sure.

Youroldpal- Thanks and bapu ....I have never used it so maybe I'l try the download to see if it exceeds V-vocal. V-vocal seems to work well for small projects and has similar functions.

Please don't tell Bapu though - he thinks I sing them myself and I would hate to burst his bubble.

Thanks Daryl. This might be the little push I needed to jump in on Melodyne. (No worries about Bapu. What Bapu doesn't know.....won't hurt him.)

Also, Mesh for me, Melodyne has been unstable for quite some time. They have recently come out with the free 2.1 update and it has been behaving perfectly since.

I have Essentials....great program for straight forward pitch and timing correction. I have never had any issues with how it reacts to X1.

Daryl, is your system 32 or 64bit? Good to know the update resolved your issues.

I also have Essential using 64bit Sonar X1. The only thing I am missing with it that I really would like is being able fix the pitch in, for instance, a held note where the vocalist slides into the right pitch but the very first part is off. Unless there is something I'm missing, the only way to fix it is to cut the first part of the note and move it to pitch. That can leave glaring artifacts at times. With V-Vocal, that is easily fixable, though Melodyne has the best sound overall.

You'd have to say that the smart move would be for them to make upgrades a tad more attractive. I expect a decent take up on this offer.
