SD 50 and A -300 Pro Are communicating but, What is the best configuration ?

Currently I am powering my A-300 via USB, and connected to the SD 50 via midi. (SD 50 is not connected to the computer with USB because this seems simplest) #1 Should I be using USB for the SD 50 too ? #2 What do I do to use the A 300 as a controller for the SD 50 without opening Sonar ?. I have to open Sonar and select a midi track. I can't use the A 300 and SD 50 freely unplugged from the computer. #3 I have midi in and out going to the SD 50 from A 300 with only a USB from the A 300 to the computer. I cannot seem to assign the A1 - A8 pads as drums, only when all the keys are set to midi Channel 10 or a SD 50 drum set. #4 I also have an octa capture with midi ports not in use. Should I be routing the SD 50, A 300 through the Octa capture ? If so what does my midi device dialog box look like. ? I hope to get this off the ground quick but I don't know the answers to these problems. I feel like I might be barking up the wrong tree here. Remember I have Octacapture, SD 50 and A 300. What is the best wiring ? #5

In continuation, I have the SD 50 Control map loaded in the A 300 and all the features including slider reverb and chorus, sound patch change keys, transport keys, volumes all work but the A1-A8 buttons are not functioning as drums. Maybe I'll look for another switch up for the pads ?

Ok I Might have found the restriction. If I switch to a midi track in Sonar LE set to Channel 10 (Drums) then the pads work as per their assignment. This doesn't switch automatically. Next to see if I can program a button to switch to the drum patch. It should be easy. Still is my connection as in the first post optimal ? for now ?

Ok I set the record button (L 8) on the A 300 to change to Drum Patch GM2 Standard and now the pads serve their function. But when the factory setting for the pads in the SD 50 Control map is set to midi channel 10 they were stuck on channel 1 before I created this bank select button to take me to GM2 Standard Drums. What setting do I have to make to have the pads play drums on channel 10 in SD 50 as the setting in A pro is assigned to be ?
