Melodyne Continually Out of Sync
Sometimes stopping and starting a project will make a virtual instrument temporarily out of tune or out of time. But I have one project in which Melodyne is continually out of sync. I edited an entire vocal track and it was fine. Now when I play the track back, the Melodyne vocal is way ahead of the beat. Sometimes I can fix this by turning the Melodyne plug off and on and scrolling through the project, but sometimes I cannot get it back in sync. Ideas?

This may not resolve your current issue but you might find it helpful at some point. Here is a link to a page on the Celemony site that has information regarding issues and helpful hints that are unique to running Melodyne on individual DAWs. There are several for Sonar. http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=host_comp Don

Also I tend to bounce the track with the fixed vocals to a new track and delete the Melodyne off the original, then mute it as an archive as soon as I'm done correcting it. ; )

If you use the plug-in version of melodyne, it stays in sync for me as long as I stop and start Sonar using the space or start button. But simply clicking on the timeline with my mouse to start sonar results in an out of sync situation every time. As soon as I have the track the way I want it I freeze it which eliminates any issue. Thanks for the advice everyone. I have had little out of sync problem before but this one is massive.

@ konradh - I'm glad you are getting this worked out. I too have sync problems - When I transfer midi from Meledyne, it is not on tempo from the stand-alone version. It is on tempo from the plugin version, but NOT lined up time-wise. ?? I've had this program over a week now and consider myself to be a top-shelf expert user. NOT. :)

+1 to either rendering the Melodyned track and removing Melodyne or bouncing the Melodyned track to a new track and then archiving the old original Melodyne track. I always keep a backup of both the un-Melodyned vocal track AND the fixed Melodyned track both inside AND outside of Sonar. That way I can always go back as far as I need if necessary.

This is a huge problem because when I bounce the track, it is out of sync. I can get it to play in sync about 1 in 10 times by stopping, restarting, turning Melodyne off and on, etc. but I never know when it will work and when it won't. Have not been able to get an in-sync bounce yet. This is preventing completion of back-up vocals. To be more specific about what happens, I can only get this track in sync by turning off Melodyne, playing a little of the track, then backing up to right before the vocal and turning Melodyne on. HOWEVER, bounce always starts at the top of the track and therefore makes the vocal out of sync. This is insane and frustrating. FYI, I did alter the ASIO buffer as Melodyne recommends, but that did not affect this issue.

I know I have sync issues if I jump to another spot while X1 is in playback BUT... if I stop the playback I can move to any location with time line or to the same spot with space bar and it stays perfectly in sync. However, ..... to prevent sync issues, make your corrections and go ahead and bounce it to a track or do as I do which is once I'm done working through the melodyne track and it sounds OK I use the process audio function to make the changes permanent and at the same time remove the plug in so I end up with a strictly audio track that is in sync

I don't have Melodyne, but I sure see the virtual instrument issue. Most of the time they're fine, every once in a while out of tune, maybe time too. I even had a fast bounce render a Rapture pad completely out of tune. Re-bounced without changind anything and it was fine. Trying to figure out how to cause it repeatably so I can file a more useful bug report. Glad I'm not the only one who has seen this... Anyone else? Anyone figure out how to fix it? Should we start another thread on this issue, or is there on that I missed? Thanks, John
