If you go cheap, you are going to have problems!

Blame Windows7 and/or Sonar???

The reason people say Apple is better is because one only has components that are VERIFIED by Apple... unlike Windows.

The solution? Buy quality components AND stay up to date.

Don't be ignorant and blame a program.

Intel i7 950 Proc, Asus Sabertooth x58 MB, 2 Crucial 128GB SSDs and Seagate 1TBGB drive, 12GB Corsair 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 Memory, Nvidia GeForece 8400 Dual Monitor vid card
Cooler Master Silent Pro 700w Power Supply, Cooler Master Sileo 500

Win 7 64 bit, SPlat 64-bit, Komplete 10 Ultimate, AmpliTube3 and AD2

Tascam FW-1884 and AKAI MPK-49

This Audio Interface-"Must be as much,or more expensive than your computer" is getting tiresome,

Bob
Whoever said that is absolutely wrong.  Look at Echo Audio, Roland and Presonus.  They make excellent interfaces with solid drivers.  Get USB for use on laptop and desktop.  I have an Echo Audo 8Pre and a Roland Quad Capture.  I play guitar and MIDI drums and latency is a non-issue.

Yep......... I can run pretty much all day at 128 samples on my laptop using this..............

and run my main system at 64 samples all day on this..................

Of course recording bands is slightly easier with the latter............

Hey FBB,those ZED's seem very cheap for what you get,I'm also looking at one of the smaller ones, but only if I can sell my 90/93 Honda XR628R+a spare engine, new cranks, trans, but all un assembled[has been since 02!]

I would still rather an RME anything,I guess in that way Iv'e been brainwashed.

The ZED-R16 is a great piece of kit 18 in/out, great routing possibilties and MIDI control surface as well. Just be aware that the other ZEDs are stereo pair in and out only I believe.

I bought the Lexicon Alpha for an inexpensive link between main mixer and laptop while doing shows. 1 show would record nice and clear. A week later, without changing any settings, the show would record nothing but distortion. It's the cheapest thing that Guitar Center hawks to the unsuspecting public. Spend some money, the Fast Track Ultra is good and has come down in price over the years. I've had good luck with M-audio products. They were slow to introduce Windows Vista / 7 drivers. Otherwise their stuff is solid.

I also agree, the sound card (Lexicon Alpha) is not a good card to use..... better than a factory soundbaster or Realtec but not by much.

Get a nice M-Audio or Focusrite and get the recording quality you expect every time to record and work in the DAW.
