Elephant is really great... Barricade is even better...I would say excellent... I've personally been using these two for the last few years... But Limiter6 is legendary! Free means nothing. It 3 or plugins in one. A compressor, limiter and clipper. Each section has some series flexibility. Take the time to try and compare it to what you use and see what you think. If you are familiar with limiters you'll see what it can do in 5 minutes tops. Been using it for past couple months or so (since the alpha stage) and it just blows me away as to how loud it can get and still sound good. Nothing I've tried can get there so easily on its own. The developer accepts donations..

Limiter 6 has 2 GUI files 1 & 2 But the dll is the same name? how do we install that? I made a folder for them but the second one wants to replace the first when I copy the dll in.

It doesn't allow that. I was surprised. I did put it in another folder with a different name and it picked up the new one instead. In this case it appears the second GUI is a lower rez version so I deleted it.

Yeah I think they want you to pick a GUI that you like, same program different interface. I'm guessing you can create a different folder and put the second in there named differently. ; )

@ M_Glenn_M I mean renaming the dll file. I just did it so I know it works. I just renamed one of them to "Limiter6 02" and I have them both running side by side as we speak.

Huh! mine just gave me a Windows "gong" as if I couldn't do that. I'll try again, thanks. Wow the Nomad stuff looks great. 3 band gain! Maybe one day.

Thanks Chrisma, for the heads up,Iv'e been looking for something exactly like this. Cheers Bob

Worked for me without a hitch. Maybe a setting w/in Windows. Do you have the option enable that shows you the file extensions of all files??? Also, I went ahead and tried the Molot compressor by the same guy who made Limiter6 and I highly recommend it!!! It's free as well and 64 bit. I threw it on a percussion part in a track I was working on and I ended up leaving it there as I liked the sound that much.

Yes I see the file extensions. I tried again and it won't let me. I can't say I've ever had that happen. I am liking the Barricade. I'll be trying the others. It really works cleanly and well, tho I have had some buffer issues that may be associated. I like that if the peak goes over .2, you can back it off .2 and it's done.

@Freddie H... Ehh... The op asked for a less than $50 mastering limiter / volume maximizer. As far as I know the iZotope-Ozone or Nomad Factory AMT-series are not available under $50. For some people money can be an issue - sometimes even an big issue, so while I agreed the stuff you are advising is good, it is hardly a fit answer for the op. No offense tough...
