Save Midi Groove Clip

Hi All,

Does anyone know if it's possible to save a midi groove clip along with it's properties (name, colour etc) in a form that can be later dragged out of the browser?

Select the groove clip only, go to File>Export>MIDI Groove Clip. Don't think it will save colours.

Thanks for the reply, but that's my problem, I can export the clip as midi, but I was hoping there would be a way to save it's colours etc as well - perhaps in a native Cakewalk file format?

Ya know they really need to either change the name of this forum or at least have a clear title letting people know it's the OLD FORUM. I don't blame people with x1 PRODUCER or STUDIO from posting here, it says Sonar Producer and Studio in the header. I think the title "LEGACY SONAR" would cover it.

Can't speak for X1 but in 8.5.3 the only way I  know of would be slightly tedious but really not too big a deal. If there is anything other than the loop in the project, save the project first so it is backed up. Then delete all other tracks, and all other MIDI data from the track the groove clip is in except the loop, so essentially the project is now the loop. Don't worry about bus fx etc, those can stay. Save that as a .cwp file.  You can now drag that project into another project and the clip settings remain. Seems to work. Plugins assigned to busses etc. do not get imported when you drag the file into the timeline. Only takes a minute but might get tedious if you were trying to export a dozen loops. If there's an easier way hopefully someone will chime in.

Again, may differ in X1, you might want to post this question there and see what happens.

Thanks for the heads-up - I came to this forum via someone else's question and hadn't noticed!

Thanks for the reply SToons, but that does seem like a long winded way of doing it, I was hoping for something a little more straight forward.
