Rapture/Arpeggiator causing fatal crash
This is a new one. It's only happening in Sonar 64 Bit - 32 Bit functions normally. I have a Rapture patch, from the Digital Sound Factory Filmscore Bank > Modern > Prophet OB Lead When I route it through the Arpeggiator (Latch On > Forward > 16th note > 2 octaves) it will play for about a second, then grind to a halt with a horrible noise coming from the monitors and the only way to close the project is to right click the Sonar icon in the Taskbar and choose Close window. Sonar makes no attempt whatsoever to save, issue a dump report or anything. This is only happening on my main rig(!) it runs perfectly ok on the secondary rig (which is used for internet/email/office/games etc and is NOT optimised for audio) Any ideas anyone?

Wow, Jonesey... Deja Vu all over again! Did you - like me - take advantage of the sale recently to upgrade Rapture AND pick up the Filmscore expansion pack at the same time? I had major problems from the outset, and I know of at least two other forum regulars who experienced problems with the same combination (Rapture 1.0 + DSF Filmscore pack). For me (although I can't speak for the others) the solution was to uninstall and reinstall Rapture, apply the update (1.2.2) and THEN reinstall the Filmscore expansion. Since then I have had no further problems.

Hi Joel, yes, that's exactly the scenario here, upgrade Rapture & pick up the film pack. Do you know if there are any registry tweaks needed to completely remove Rapture?

Perhaps you can try to put a brick wall / limiter and see if this help. I can't remember which soft synt it is (dim pro/rapture/etc..) there are some patches that the volume is too hot and crash X1, also generate loud noise to the monitors.

Colin, I didn't do any registry "diddling"; if there were any entries that needed to be cleaned up, I believe they were performed by the Uninstaller supplied with Rapture. Just be sure to use it instead of Windows' uninstaller. As far as Albert's suggestion, I have heard of that problem, but in this instance I don't think it applies. I have followed a lot of your posts, Colin, and I am confident you are savvy enough to realize if the synth output is too hot. Besides, this manifests itself in almost the exact way it did for me. I don't really think it had anything to do with with the fix, but I thought I would mention it: when I first installed Rapture, I only checked the VSTi box, leaving the RTAS box blank. The second install (that was successful), I checked both. I never use RTAS plugs, but it occured to me that it wouldn't hurt to let it install EVERYTHING.

Joel, I'm going to get right on this as soon as I get home. Like you, I didn't install the RTAS stuff so the common denominators are remarkably similar. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for listening. Lots of that is pretty old and not mixed very well. I must upload some newer stuff I absolutely LOVE your signature, taken from Packard Goose I believe.
