Inserting BUS for Effect - Vocal

Hi.  Being a bit new to using BUS I am trying to insert reverb effect for vocal track. Whilst I have watched the tutorials and understand how to create the bus, the effect only works on playback.  Is there a way that we can hear the vocal effect whilst or before recording??  When I have inserted the BUS the POST button is green if I click it it turns grey.  Am I looking for a PRE button or am I completly at sea?

    Enable the Echo button in the track the vocals are routed thru. If Echo is not enabled the audio coming into the track will not get passed thru to the busses/Master bus.
