CAL

Allt hese argumetns about which DAW is best, and yet I never saw this comment before (which came from a Wikipedia article about Sonar):

...including support for CAL, currently being the only major DAW on the market supporting a scripting language.

It's a shame that CAL is such an orphan child though. So much potential. I would like to see it added to with real scripting/macro capability to automate commonly used functions. Glad it's there though.
MFx too - readable in SONAR x64 for a starter.

I have a handful of the CAL routines that I use all the time.  I too wish they had done more with this.

    +1 for CAL ...

but more than that .. I think it's a shame that studioware panels has been taken out...
in days where it's easy to go the lazy way with VST/I ..
making external MIDI hardware easier to reach and control with a studioware panel still makes a lot of sense, for all those menu-driven synths .. DSI, Waldorf, virus snow etc..
