Focusrite Saffire 40 /Sonar Users

When selecting an input to record in Sonar (Producer 7), listed are only the odd numbered inputs on the Saffire. For example, it lists input 1 left, 1 right, and 1 stereo, then 3 left, 3 right, 3 stereo, etc. with no mention of inputs 2, 4,6,8 etc. If I want to track 2 instruments I can set one input to "1 left" and another to "1 right"; and the "1 right" is now controlled by the gain on the focusrite on input 2. Does this make sense? Why is input 2 controlled by "1 right" ? Am I missing something here or is there a setting I need to change? Thanks for any input/help.

Not a Saffire owner, but sounds to me like:
    1 left = input 1
    1 right = input 2
    3 left = input 3
    4 right = input 4
    etc.
Don't know why they didn't just call the right channels: right 2, right 4, etc.

It's just how they are named. Input 1 = 1 left, Input 2 = 1 right, Input 3 = 3 left, Input 4 = 3 right... and so forth. Stereo 1 (left and right) would use input 1 and 2. It's a little weird and I prefer seeing the individual inputs as well but once you get used to it it's easy.

ASIO convention.  Yea, sometimes I have to start counting toes to get the right input.
