Zo, thanks for the vids but I have one request.

Can you not have the music going all the time while you're talking? It's VERY distracting.

Besides that, all that music playing for so long gets the ears tuned to that "sound" and then the distinction (given YouTube quality) between before and after is harder to discern (IMO).

a VTM video from Russ:  http://www.youtube.com/wa...dded&v=4fro4Zrpyas

    bapu,
    Thanks for the link.
He has some great videos, very well done.

I just have authorized my copy of VTM and am excited to hear the possibilities.
It looks like it can be really tweaked a lot so getting used to what does what will be an initial challenge.

I just purchased it my own self.

    Have not downloaded it yet.

I'll be excited to compare my UAD Studer, Slate VTM, Waves Kramer Tape and Nomad Factory's Magnetic II (I love that on on drums).

Please do let us know your thoughts and practical experience with VTM.  I have finally learned from experience not to jump immediately to buy the newest Slate products without first hearing what others around here think.  The hype, hyperbole, exaggerated grandiose marketing claims are a little too much.  No wait--they are way over the top, but to be fair, his products do generally sound or perform well.  Has he done one of his "infomercials" on this one yet?

I already own Magnetic II, Kramer Magnetic Tape, and the best buy for the money, Tonebooster's fantastic TBReelBus, so VTM will have to be pretty good to compete in this corner of the virtual vst tape machine market.  I will be interested in what you and others here think about this VTM and how it compares to its outstanding competitors.

BTW, that link to the youtube video by Russ that you gave was enough to make me want actually to learn more.  No exaggeration, no hyperbole, just some practical, "reel-world," examples putting it through some nice paces.   Russ's video makes it look useful, but the price is steep compared to Magnetic, Kramer and especially TBReelBus, but I guess Slate thinks VTM is in the same ball park as UAD's Studer.  Still, I will probably wait for one of those great audiomidi/audiodeluxe super/duper/24hour bargains in a few months or a year--that is if it does hold up to inspection.
