Digital sound factory sound expansions . unable to de compress !

Last week i purchased Film score for rapture. after trying to de compress the file with two different laptops with two different operating systems, vista 32 , windows 7 64, i have the same result.

they always go in to an endless loop towards the end of the process. the only thing that can stop this loop, is to crash windows explorer.

the crashed files are the same size as the original.

i have downloaded the file 4 times, with one file coming directly from dsf who have been very helpful,  but their file does not work either.

i have tried extract all and winzip

to be honest, i have asked for a refund as i have spent hour's on this, and i am just wasting my time. however, out of curiosity has any one else come across this problem and resolved it?

DSF support is very help full to try solve your problem. Perhaps the zip file is corrupted ? Have you try to download again ?

Zip support is built in for Win 7 (Vista ? never used so I'm not sure) and you do not need to use winzip. While I don't have Film score, I have other sound packs from DSF which works fine.

Once, I found there is a missing sample in one of the library and wrote to DSF, and was instantly rectified.

I purchased this pack a couple of months ago and it worked fine.  I can't recall anything about the extraction process though, so remind me.  What is the file extension of the downloaded file?

thanks for your reply's. as stated, i have downloaded the file 4 times. and one file came directly from Timothy Swartz who owns dsf.  the file type is compressed zip folder. i asked Timothy for access to a unzipped folder, but no joy. so time to call it a day on this one. i hope nobody else wastes hours of their life on this, like i have.

I have bought this pack too, and it works fine.

However, it's a very BIG file, so I had to wait for about 6 minutes for it to unpack.
All the whilie, it seemed the computer was hanging...
If you have an older pc, it could take even longer!

Maybe you should wait a little longer before shutting off your pc?

well i waited for over 35 minutes for it to loop it self in to another universe.  yesterday i was sent an executable file directly from dsf.  this file was actually smaller than the original compressed file. it crashed my computer on opening. delightful.

I'm sure any company that sale software products perform many test to make sure there is no problem with their product.

Zip files (or self extract EXE compressed file) have some sort of check sum built in to make sure the data integrity is correct. So, if there is any problem, it's most likely happened during downloading, such as a file corruption problem - but after so many tries, it may point to a specific problem with your system IF it's only one computer. BUT it happens to two of your system. At this point, it seems problem is with DSF sending incompatible file.

But Kev999 and r_baeyens mentioned it works for them.

So, what other similarity you can think of that appears at both of your system that may have resulted in failure to run all these files ? (running similar software / antivirus / etc..)

It's easy to fault DSF at this point and get a refund or something.. but if problem persist, you may face the same issue again.

i downloaded some free patches for zeta from the cakewalk site at the same time as the dsf file. they extracted and worked first time. just like the other files i have downloaded and extracted for rapture dimension pro and zeta and the other 15 or so music applications i use. anyway, i am still waiting for cakewalk to reply. its been ten days now. and nothing. in case anybody from the company is reading this, i just want my money back. on another note, i can only applaud tim from dsf for his attempts to rectify the problem. unfortunately to no avail, and a headache.

From my experience, email support took a long time.

For urgent matter better call them direct.

Once I had a bad download link.. no replies for 2 weeks, called them and fixed within minutes.

EDIT : Well.. not exactly 2 weeks.. but a little over one week..
