Pod Farm..Pod X3...Sonar X1...not working:(

Okay...here's my problem...I just upgraded from Sonar 8.5 Producer to Sonar X1 Producer, and I got a new computer.  Everything is fine except my problem with pod farm 2.  I'm using a Pod X3 and all my updates are current in Line 6 Monkey, green checks all the way across.  My VST manager recognizes the pod farm stuff in VST plugins, but I'm only getting like 3 guitar amps and a few bass amps...I've tried everything, but Sonar or pod farm is not recognizing Pod Farm 2.0...please help...

touchthesky

P.S. I'm running Sonar X1 in 64 bit and a Windows 7 system.

Hi Touch- for the longest time I had this problem also.

I uninstalled all the POD X3 stuff and re-installed it. And remember that the X3 works as a dongle for the Pod Farm 2.5 Platinum so you need to have it hooked in with USB and powered up to access all the VSTs, otherwise it will run in demo mode.

I use a Line6 ToneDirect DI Silver, and the same thing happened to me. The keyword in your sentence wasn't upgrading to X1 Producer, it was "and I got a new computer". Open the Line6 License Manager, log in with your Line6 account, and "Authorize" your new computer. You might have to "unauthorize" your old computer if you don't have enough authorizations left. Line6 uses a double security with their dongle based pod farm setups. The X3 acts as a dongle, and it still wants the computer authorized. Sort of a pain if you ask me.

If I was to get a new interface other than my line 6, Would I still need to keep it hooked up to use pod farm?

POD FARM 2.5 has two versions. Hardware Independent, or iLok - and I think you need to know the version you purchased (ie: can't be changed later).  With the Hardware Independent, I believe you can use it with any USB interface, but I am not sure how the copy protection is setup.

Their website is extremely vague on this matter.

yuk ....Running out of usb ports

I've revised my post above, you may want to re-read it.
If you are running out of USB ports, it's really easy (and inexpensive) to add more. For $20 I've got a powered 4 port hub that I connect "non audio" usb gear to, such as my Nocturne, Axiom, POD X3 Live (connected only for updates and/or patch management). I recommend a powered hub as a standard hub may not allow enough usb power through, depending on how many devices require it.

The only thing I take direct to it's own USB port is the VS-100 - my primary audio interface.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

keneds, in your case I'm betting yes... you're using the UX1... which is a later version of what I'm using... Easy way to check, though... unplug the UX1 and temporarily set up X1 to run off your sound card... then load the Pod Farm VST and see if it goes into demo mode. If it doesn't, you're good to use a new DI. I was wrong about the original poster, though... he's using the X3 so his Pod Farm is undoubtedly the stand alone version, all he should need to do is activate his computer using the License Manager (2nd tab in Line6 Monkey).
