Strange Out of Memory issue
Working with Sonar X1 Studio... and this same thing has happened before and after upgrading to X1D... I'm working on a program with several groove clips, all created IN Sonar X1 Studio. When saving... instead of "Saving"... I get the rotating wait icon on the mouse... and then a window pops up... once it said "Unable to Save: Out of Memory".. but most of the time the window is blank as if X1 can't get a proper handle for a dialogue box. At this point, it is impossible to exit the program or do anything else, as the dialogue box is still blank no matter how many times you click exit... I have to task manager my way out of it and reboot my system. Compaq Presario PC, AMD Athlon X2 4450e 3Gig Ram, Windows Vista SP2 with all updates, very clean install, just reinstalled Windows last week, and all that's on the pc is FireFox, Thunderbird, and Sonar X1 Studio Patch D. Using Line6 ToneDirect DI Silver as both input and the sound card. Any ideas?

It may... One of the issues it points to is the Video drivers... turns out on my fresh install, that means I'm running the 2009 drivers for this card... (build 189, current driver build 308)... The clue that it could be the driver is that X1 can't seem to get a fresh surface for the dialogue boxes (the box comes up with the frame but transparent, no info in it). It's also possible that it's corrupted waves.. (This problem only occurs so far on the project I've made with lots of groove clips, but the groove clips were created IN the program from another project, and this is my first foray into groove clips). The little performance window in the upper right hand corner shows memory usage only at about 1/3... and I can load/save/mix a project with 82 tracks in it with no troubles... it's just this 9 track project with groove clips.. I'll start with the drivers. Thanks! - Brian

I'd also delete all the files in your picture cache folder.

Updating NVidia Graphics drivers did not fix it. I think, since it's only this project that's behaving this way, that somehow I have one or more of the groove clips corrupted.

Try opening the project in safe mode. i.e. open project with the shift key held. Then only load those thing you know you need and do not load anything you do not recognise or know you do not need save the project under a different version.

I ended up building the project from scratch (this is a mixing project, so I didn't have to re-record anything) and making sure I bounced clips that were cut and pasted from other parts of the mix. I didn't know that if you cut a selection of a clip, and then paste it in a new track, you get the WHOLE CLIP with the front and back trimmed... bounced it and you're down to just the selection. So far no crashes.

You know about the "shift T" short cut that applies trimming?
