Sonar X2......Sonar X3

In the days I did something in Sonar X2 but all with loops. I love what was done and would like to transfer it to Sonar X3.
When I highlight the tracks in X2 I cannot seem to be able to transfer them to X3.
Can anyone please help?
Greatly appreciated?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Gerry

When I try I get the following message.

" Cannot open file. The file may be damaged or incompatible with this current version of Sonar. "

    No problem in X2.
I was able to transfer a WAV file in X3, which works fine.
But what I want to do is transfer each individual track ( 15 ) in X3 so I can modify or add to them.
This is where I have the problem.
I just do not want only the sound, but every individual tracks like in X2's original project.
    Is this possible?

    Thank you.

Any Sonar project file saved in X2 can be opened in X3. No "transfer" is necessary.

    Gerry,
Try "Save As" the original project with a new name. Then try opening the new one in X3.
If still a no go, you can "Export" each MIDI track. Then "Import" into a brand new project.
Do you have any tempo changes in the project? If so, create the tempo map in the new project before you import.
Also when exporting do NOT include tempo changes.

Hi Gerry, I would try to save the X2 files to my desktop as 'TEST' (In the save screen enable 'copy all audio with project').
Then delete all plugins or stuff you have in the project, so the project is just audio and midi...and then save it again.

Then close X2,  open X3 and open the file you saved to your desktop.

    good luck

Thank you Jatoth. Your suggestion of saving under a different name worked. Was able to download to X3 with no problems.
Do you however know WHY it happened this way?
Might have the same problem in the future.
Again, thank you all for your input.

    Regards

No, Gerry, can't tell you what happened. Most likely a small bit of corruption that X3 couldn't deal with, although X2 didn't mind. By using "Save As" you are creating a new project, nice and clean and compact. X3 can open all previous version's projects, so if this happens again, just follow these steps.
Glad you got it worked out.
