64 bit stability

Thinking seriously of upgrading to 64 bit, current ram issues demand it. How is the stability in Producer 8.5? Any horror stories?

I'm using win 7 64 professional, and Sonar producer 8.5. I actually preferred XP, and may go back to it. A lot of my support programs (like sound forge) don't work well in win 7 64. I've tried mixing down with sonar, and I can't figure out how to fade out. I want my sound forge back.

Nothing wrong with wanting more ram. I'm on W7/64 and 8.5pro with no recording problem's. Only issue I have is with the EQ64, it won't allow me to make adjustments during playback without crashing the project and therefore corrupting the file (Grrr) The work around is to stop playback, make adjustment, press play...repeat if needed.

fijensen..to fade out, check into "track automation" that should fix you up.

For me moving to 64 bit made EVERYTHING WORK properly. No more drop outs etc. Tascam had terrible drivers for XP 32 bit but now all is good. I use mostly the default plug ins and only a few little changes had to be made to make all my old 32 bit projects run smooth as silk. Only ****ing you hear is from people with a lot of 3rd party plugs that have not been updated to 64. Go for it. You can have both versions of Sonar installed side by side, but be warned. Clearly label your 32 bit folders and don;t try opening from a CWP icon, load from within the software.

That is odd. I did a live recording session and I had 20 projects open. They are all using a template I created that already has some standard efx plugs and 20 tracks audio, 4 tracks MIDI. You have 4x the computer I have too. Something is wrong. I have never had Sonar crash, ever. Dropouts yes, blue screens no.

I've also upgrade my computer to a VISTA 64bit; from a VISTA 32bit. Is there anything different needed, since I've had to install my Sonar 8 from the beginning? I'm also using a multi-USB port for all my connections to the computer. Right now I'm only getting "percussions" and no other midi sounds within the recorded midi tracks. Any advise is welcomed! "Using Sonar 8 Producer" and I've yet to update using the new drive.
