Waves July sale question
So I got the monthly email from Waves with their sales. I am a little interested in the Maserati Signature bundle as you get the usually $200 / $100 voucher coupon for purchase in the next 14 days. I have two questions for your Waves gurus: 1. Can you use the plugin voucher (25% off) toward the purchase of one of their plugin sales items? I am interested in getting a couple of their plugins that are on sale for $49 (JJP Strings & Keys and CLA Unplugged). Can you use the 25% off for these sale items? 2. And here is the other question: Can you purchase through WavesUniverse.com and still get the $200/$100 coupon/voucher if you buy the Maserati suite?

Since the majority of their plug-ins and bundle are actually on sale month after month, it seems to me like it would make very little sense for them not to honor your voucher. According to WU's own web site, yes, you can buy Maserati for $157 and get the $200 voucher. I wouldn't hesitate e-mailing them if you have any question - they've always been extremely helpful and very prompt in getting back to me, whether it was about a custom upgrade request or basic product info.

There are some gotchas that customer service from Audiodeluxe told me about. Vouchers from Waves are applied to retail prices and not discounted prices. I may have misunderstood but I would advise anyone to ask the questions to your vendor. Also, I noticed that depending on the product only a percentage of the voucher could be used. Once again, I think it's best to ask.

I've got all the WAVES sig series and, if it were me (which you're not;-) I'd opt for either the JJP suite or the CLA suite. Tony's set is good but I find myself always gravitating to JJP for most stuff and CLA for harder modern rock. Kramer is great for vintage sounds. Just kibitzing:-) Plus 1 on wavesuniverse.com love em.

I've been eyeing the CLA Effects for a while now, unsure if I really want a dumbed-down effects plugin. But at $46.55 it's tempting. Assuming it's useful, that is. Your opinion, ol' pal?

The CLA effects plug is really geared to modern overused vocal stuff like telephone/distorted voice and such. It has nice verb, delay, chorus but IMHO is the weakest of the CLA bunch. Don't get me wrong, I really like the CLA set and when you want that "drop everything out and shift the vocal to "telephone" thingy" the effects plug does give it to you perfectly. It may sound crazy coming from me but I'd keep my $46.55. My tout would be to bite the bullet and get the JJP set. I'm finding it more and more useful since I got it. There is a tremendous amount of tweakability with these sets...especially the JJP... and they aren't just stock presets...you actually have quite a bit of control over many different aspects and effects within the chains.

I really was not that impressed with his video about making these 7 plugins but thought for the price it might be worth it and use the discounts to buy some of the the unplugged and acoustic guitar and string & Keys for all of these signature pieces. I will just wait for the next sale and hope that they will put the JJP suite on one of these specials, which we know will happen sooner or later. Hope they put the NLS on sale soon. Thanks for helping me not purchase this.

I guess it depends on whether you want effects (Waves) or a lot of instruments (NI Kontakt + Komplete8). The latter is not bad, but remember that Komplete9 must be right around the corner if they are dumping/discounting like this. If you go for the effects/Waves remember that their voucher is only good for 14 days and that you can only use it toward 25%of an individual plugin or toward 50% of a bundle; here is the waves disclaimer: Voucher code is valid for 14 days toward up to 50% off bundle or bundle upgrade purchases, or up to 25% off single plugins or combo specials. Multiple vouchers may not be combined. I have both the NPP and Komplete 7 and use both. Both have their selling points. Not sure if there are any negatives. You just need to figure out if you want more effects or if you want more instruments.
