Graphics card connections

Hi all
Just bought an LED TV (Samsung UE32C4000 ) and I'm wanting to connect my PC.
My Nvidia Geforce 210 doesn't have an HDMI output but I can either use the VGA or DVI outputs.

I have a few questions about this. 

Looking on line it seems that all the later versions of my card come with HDMI and I could pick one up for £20 - £30. Would I see a big improvement in picture quality using the native HDMI of a new card or should 
I just use a DVI to HDMI adapter as there difference is very slight?

I'm thinking there's probably no need for a new card to be honest.

    I don't think that there will be any difference in video quality at all. The things that HDMI offer over DVI aren't really related to video quality, but more to do with being a higher level communications standard between devices to allow for more auto-configuration stuff, supporting audio over the same wire, providing support for DRM, and so forth.

    I've ordered a DVI cable and that should be fine. HDMI will give me audio as well but I have far better speakers than my TV.

    OK, just bought a DVI to HDMI cable.
    Plugged it in to the DVI output on the back of my card and in to the HDMI on my TV.
    The TV displayed my desktop background picture but nothing else.
    Ni icon, no cursor, no task bar no nothing. Just the desktop picture.
    Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to configure it from within my graphics card.
    One thing I have just discovered is that when I use the windows magnifier the screen on my TV gets splits and on the left side I can see half of my "active screen and the cursor is there and whatever programs I have open.
    I really don't want to have to buy another lead and I'm sure it's just a config issue.
    I've never done this before. I'm not wanting to use the two monitors together.
