Why does Sonar keep resetting my MOTU back to 44.1?

So now that I'm using ASIO with my MOTU, it works great on my Win7 x64 laptop (so far).

However, on my WinXP x32 system Sonar keeps bouncing the ASIO MOTU back to 44100 whenever I try to set it higher.

I set the MOTU Console to 98000. Then open X1 Preferences and set the S/R to 98000 and click OK. Then Sonar resets the MOTU back to 44100.

When using Sonar WDM the Wave Profiler only found 44100 and 48000. Do you think my 32 bit Sonar is infected with something?

Other audio programs work as expected.

Thanks!

It's possible that MOTU only created support in the 32bit drivers for 44.1 and 48k for those devices.

A couple thoughts come to mind, if its a new project, what are your settings for new projectss?

And, if there is already audio present in the project, what sampling rate is said audio?

The sample rate setings can be project specific. As a matter of fact, I belive they are. So if your template is set to have 44.1 then Sonar will tell your MOTU to change to that. Just make a new Normal Template with the sample rate set to whatever you want. When you open up Sonar it will stay at that.

However, if you open a project started with the sample rate set to 44.1 then Sonar will change the MOTU to that upon opening the project.

However, if this doesn't make a difference then there is a possibillity that the drivers can't do 96KHz in 32-bit mode. You could probably find some info about this on the MOTU site or through their tech support.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I already tried the template thing but will try it again. It's doubtful  MOTU is limiting 32 bit sampling though since so many are still using it and there's nothing on it in the manual. Maybe some of you MOTU users might verify this for me. I have contacted MOTU but am still waiting for a reply.
