Samson G track buzz problem

Im not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, so if its not alright or whatever please point me in the right direction and feel free to lock the thread etc. Awhile back I did alot of researching into what mic I wanted to get and settled on getting the G track. I had heard some issues regarding its use with certain computers but thought I'd take a chance. I was happy with it for awhile, but I noticed that even when I went out of my way to have a quiet recording environment there'd always be a slight buzz. Then I turned my recording volume on the mic to zero and it was still recording static. I tried a couple different recording programs all to the same end, and also on my laptop with the same results. I even took it to my torn down apartment where there'd be no electrical devices for interference and it still happened. I read a couple things that it might be a compatibility with win7 issue, but its not worth it to reformat my computer and put on a new operating system for the sake of something Im not sure of.

Can anyone help me or have any suggestions? I'm straight up out of ideas here. I can upload audio examples somewhere if it'd help. Thanks for any responses, sorry if Im in the wrong place.

Have you tried disabling your laptop's own soundcard for recording? Maybe you are picking up extraneous noise through it.
I realize you've already made your choice but I personally would be very leery of a USB mic at this point.

Hello, I think I have got the same problem. The buzzing sound is coming from headphone output from mic in the moment when I activate the record mode. In a recorded sound it is not too much to hear it, but it is of course bad for this... By the way I have Win7. I had WinXP and I was more pleased by using it there. On Win7 there is bad control about USB mics. Especially I hate that digital levels, where you can only set it to -0.4 dB to make it be usefull- but its not the 0 dB .. You could maybe try to find the frequency buzz is making, I bet its about 10kHz and turn this down in some EQ.

My friend had this same problem with a Alesis Guitar Link http://www.alesis.com/guitarlink

He was using the on board sound card and the guitar link together with static / white noise so bad there was no chance of doing anything with it.

I tried a Roland UA-25 through his laptop and worked no problem so only thing we could put it down to was the on board sound card and Guitar Link Cable combo :(

If you can then you would be better with a audio interface and separate mic
