A little recording help?

I'm using a Presonus firebox and X1 Producer and trying to record 2 instruments simultaneously. I can't seem to get the second instrument to record without the FX of the first affecting it.

I'm trying to record guitar directly using Amplitube and a single mic on the drums. Amplitube is also distorting the drums even though I don't have it assigned to that track.

I know I'm screwing something up, just don'tknow what. I've already searched for the answer, but no can find.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

Do you have your track inputs set correctly? Make sure you don't have both tracks set to the same input and don't use the Stereo input option. You want mono. Also Sonar is non destructive so if you removed Amplitude even after recording you should have a dry signal which you can tweak add effects to after the fact. Cheers.

Probably not. I'm a long time Acid Pro user and determined to learn Sonar. The only inputs I have on the firebox is left, right and stereo.

Okay. On each of your tracks you should see an input dropdown menu (if you don't look just above the track view and there is a dropdown where you can select differnt views. FX, i/o, Mix, etc... You want i/o). Clicking the input dropdown on the track will give you a list of available input devices. Select PreSonus Left for whatever you have hooked up to your left (1) input. Then on the other track do the same thing except select Presonus Right (2). If you are still confused take a look at the help topic tutorials that came with Sonar. It will walk you through basic set ups like this. In fact you should do that anyway. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, Beepster. I believe I have it going now. You pretty much nailed it.

A bit of a "duh" moment on my part! :)
