Sonar 5 Producer - VST Config locks up will not complete the process

Using Sonar 5 Producer.  I have several VSTi instruments. Run the 'VST CONFIGURATION WIZARD' - It appears to recognize and log them, but locks up and "Not responding" when it begins the configuration process. 

The instruments don't show up in the 'Soft Synths' menu. 

I've copied the files to nearly all of the Cakewalk files: VST PLUGINS; SHARED DXi. 

I've tried every way to get these instruments plugged in and configured but no luck.

I can open them as stand alones and they play just fine - Sonar 5 just won't config them and plug them in so I can record with them!

WTF?!!!

    What version of Windows? Sonar 5 is quite old.  It may not work with Windows Vista or 7. 

    What instruments are they? Are you sure they are VSTs and not DXis?

    Presumably, you've run the wizard successfully in the past. What plugins have been added since? One of them is missing a dependency or is otherwise incorrectly installed.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Double check that they are on the enabled list.
