Session Drummer 2: Can't load multiple samples
In Session Drummer 2, I can't load multiple samples to one instrument icon. For example: On the Hi-Hat Icon, you can right click to select either closed or open hi-hat. I can pick closed hi-hat and select a sound for the closed hi-hat, and it plays when I hit the button. But when I right click and pick closed hi-hat, select a closed hi-hat sound, that becomes the sound for the closed and open hi-hat selections. In other words, I can only pick one at a time and not both separately. Any and all help would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure that's the way it's designed. the work around would be to load two instances of SD2, one with open, one with closed HH, then you'd need to edit the MIDI to send only the closed HH to the 2nd instance of SD2, for example.

If by "the button", you mean the hi-hat icon/button in the SD2 GUI, that is correct. This button is for auditioning only. It cannot differentiate the source notes required for the variations in the hi-hat sound. However, in actual playing/programming, the hi-hat responds to three different MIDI notes. 42(Hi-Hat Closed), 44(Hi-Hat Pedal), and 46(Hi-Hat Open). To see these, use the Session Drummer 2 drum Map. Do not insert SD2 as a Simple Instrument Track. Insert selecting: MIDI Source Track First Synth Audio Output(or All Synth Audio Outputs:Stereo if you want to get more elaborate with the mix) Synth Property Page Set the MIDI track output to New Drum Map/Session Drummer 2(it's way down the list) Now open the PRV, and you will see the drum notes specific to SD2. You may need to select your MIDI track from the menu if you have several tracks. What you hear from the button while auditioning is not terribly relevant, as you cannot record from there. What is important is what notes appear in your MIDI track. Hope that makes sense.

However, in actual playing/programming, the hi-hat responds to three different MIDI notes. 42(Hi-Hat Closed), 44(Hi-Hat Pedal), and 46(Hi-Hat Open). Actually, this is not accurate. "The button" (the pad icon) can in fact audition any sample related to the specific drum pad. However, if you load a simple sample it will be assigned to all MIDI notes relating to that drum pad. To use multi-samples it requires an sfz file. If you load an included sfz or kit (an sfz file or prog file that is triggering one or more sfz files) , say SL Groovy, you can right-click and choose closed hats. When you left-click it auditions the closed hats. If you right-click and choose the open hats then when you left-click it will audition the open hats. A properly edited sfz file will allow you to load -and- audition any sample related to a drum pad. If you go to the hats, right-click and "Load Instrument" and then choose a simple file like a wav file or aiff then it will be assigned to -all- the notes that share that drum pad. For example if you load a closed hat sample then every MIDI note assigned to that pad will trigger -only- that sample, whether you use F#3 (42, closed hats), G#3(44, pedal) or A#3 (46, open hats). Therefore if you try to audition different hits it will fail as each different audition selection (MIDI note) will only serve to trigger the single loaded sample thus you will hear no difference as there is none. To take advantage of loading multiple samples into a single drum pad you must load an sfz file. You can create or edit an sfz file in any text editor like Notepad. Edited to fix several "sfv" mistakes. Should be sfz.

No, it's not the way it was designed, read my other post to clarify. Your workaround is not necessary if you learn to edit a simple sfz file. You can open and edit them in any text editor like Notepad.
