Are bun files portable across 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems
I have been working of a 32 bit system, but my project has grown so much that the 32 bit system forced me to upgrade my pc and I decided to install the 64 bit version of Sonar. I saved my file on the 32 bit machine as a bun file, but when I open the bun file on the 64 bit version of Sonar on the new machine, I get a message that Sonar cannot find most of my samples/loops in the project... what is wrong please?

Make sure your samples and such are in the same folder locations on both computers. If they aren't then Sonar won't find them. Steve

Thanks for the reply Steve, but I thought that that was the whole point of a bun file.... ie that ALL the audio is saved with the project in a bun file, is this not the case, then I do not see what a bun file could be useful for? Thanks

He's not talking about audio files, the key word was samples You also need to make sure that all the plugins you were using on your old system are available in a 64 bit version It seems a bit late now asking you what your original problem was, but totally upgrading your system halfway through a project is asking for trouble. Seems an odd solution to whatever problem you were having Brad.

The Samples and Loops are not included in the .bun file, only the track wave files. So any "outside" references, like Samples and Loops, will be accessed from the Folders list in your Preferences. You can change their locations from within there which might help. Steve

Thanks guys, I have decided to complete the project on the old machine, and continue all future projects on the new machine. Awesome forum, where people actually comment. Thanks
