I'm giving you an ovation for tackling a very difficult song.  You have quite a range-I don't think I could reach some of those notes in falsetto.  I like your take no prisoners approach.  Now, what will you do to top this?

    All the best,

    Thank you sir.

I don't think I can top this until I figure out how to overcome my head issues of doing this on my own.

I'm constantly second guessing my pitch and the timbre, then overcorrecting. It's really hard when you have a hot-rod instrument to keep it under control without some outside stimuli.

But that said, Sam Cooke and some other soul music comes to mind... :)

Man, I try singing along to this and my car and I always end up  breaking my throat. lol.

The vocals sound like you're straining really hard at some parts. Can't blame you since this is a ridiculous song to song. Your range is good though. At around 2:06-2:12, I think you were sliding too much into the correct notes.

Anyway, you could be the best singer in the world but it'll still never sound as smooth as the original. With that said, I'd say it's better than what most could do. Good effort.

Totally awesome effort and sounds great. This is one tough song to sing as it would be, but you did an excellent job with it and sounded like you were having fun too. Peace be with you. Blessings, John

It's not really straining nearly as much it is a tone correction thing. If it was a scale then it would be no problem. The placement of his tone is what I was trying to get and it IS/WAS very difficult. I could have sang it more brassy, or more distorted and that would have been easier, but it wouldn't have accomplished what I was trying to do. I was literally trying to get as close to him as I could with a zoom R16 and a bluebird mic. I think it was epic if you knew how much went into it...put me on his mic and his preamp and his FX chain and we'd be having a different conversation. : )

The notes aren't that high for me, like I said, it's a tone and chest resonant singing style issue and I was challenged by getting the placement where I wanted it.

What a monster to tackle Joshua.

You did a pretty decent job.

    Kudos.

Props for trying, but some of those high notes had my dog scurrying for cover.

Why don't drop you it a full step, making it easier to hit the notes as well as sounding heavier.

Thanks for listening and subjecting your dog to pain. Sacrifices must be made and I'm sorry to say that animals were harmed in the creation of this moment!

Superb!  I enjoyed this.  I sorta agree that it might be better a little lower...but whatever.

Sorry to break in here, but Melee...what are you up to these days?  Still singing and playing I hope.
